ITINERARY:
1st
Day: STRASBOURG – SALZBURG
Rendezvous at 7h in
Strasbourg, (river mooring, 3 bis rue du Havre). Departure by coach for
Austria. You will get the chance to have lunch on the way. Arrival in
Salzburg at the end of the afternoon (or thereabouts). Booking into the
hotel*** (NL) in the immediate vicinity. Dinner and accommodation.
2nd
Day: SALZBURG
Breakfast in the
hotel. Morning devoted to the optional guided tour of Salzburg. The
birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, it has managed to preserve an
urban fabric of exceptional richness built up between the Middle Ages
and the 19th century. Lunch in Salzburg. In the afternoon, excursion to
the “Salzkammergut” lake region: Fuschlsee, Wolfgansee, Bad Ischel,
Mondsee, discover the wonderful natural landscapes that this region of
Austria has to offer. Back to the hotel at the end of the day. Dinner
and accommodation.
3rd
Day: SALZBURG – BUDAPEST
Breakfast in the
hotel. Departure by coach for Budapest. Lunch on the way. Across the
Austro-Hungarian border. Arrival in Budapest at the end of the
afternoon. Boarding and settling into your cabin. Presentation of the
crew. Welcome cocktail, dinner. Free evening or optional traditional
evening in Budapest.
4th
Day: BUDAPEST – BRATISLAVA
Breakfast on board.
Departure for the optional guided tour of Budapest. With its numerous
edifices situated on each side of the river, the city is unspeakably
rich in historic emblems. Back on board for lunch and departure of the
cruise for Bratislava. Dinner and an evening's entertainment on board.
5th
Day: BRATISLAVA – VIENNA
Arrival in Bratislava
early in the morning. After breakfast, departure for the optional
guided tour of Bratislava. Dominated to the north by the slopes of the
southern point of the Small Carpathians, bathed by the Danube,
Bratislava occupies a privileged geographical site. The charm of the
Slovakian capital lies in its old city: splendid Baroque palaces,
churches and pleasant squares. Back on board for lunch and departure of
the cruise for Vienna. Arrival in Vienna around 20h. Dinner on board
and free evening or optional tour of Vienna by night.
6th
Day: VIENNA
Breakfast on board.
Free morning in Vienna or optional tour of Schönbrunn Castle, summer
residence of the imperial family. Back to the boat for lunch. In the
afternoon, free time or optional tour of the Hofburg: the palace of the
Hapsburgs houses the crown jewels and sumptuous imperial apartments.
Back to the boat for dinner. After dinner, the chance to attend a
concert of Viennese music (optional and dependent on availability).
Departure of the boat during the night.
7th
Day: MELK – PASSAU
Breakfast on board.
Cruise up the most beautiful section of the Wachau. Arrival in Melk
around 9h. Departure by coach for the optional tour of the picturesque
village of Durnstein. This village, the most famous in the Wachau, is
swathed in the legend of King Richard the Lionheart and has a church in
the Baroque style. Back to the boat for lunch. In the afternoon,
optional excursion to the Abbey of Melk. Atop a rocky outcrop which
overlooks the Danube from a height of more than 50 m, it is the symbol
of the most complete expression of Baroque Art in Austria. Back on
board and departure of the boat around 16h for Passau. Gala evening and
dinner.
8th
Day: PASSAU – STRASBOURG
Breakfast.
Disembarkation and freedom to explore the town of Passau with our
hostess. Lunch in Passau. At around 15h, departure by coach for
Strasbourg. Arrival in the evening at our river mooring (rue du Havre
in Strasbourg). End of our journey.
